Part A: Providing aide to Canaan farm (of the Masindi region of Uganda) for displaced families, primarily women and children, due to civil unrest.  Assisting with water, agriculture, medical needs, and education regarding maternal health, malaria, and waterborne illnesses.  (7-10 days)


Part B:  Research and assess the needs for further medical support among a community of children affected by HIV/AIDS in Fort Portal, near the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Provide assessment and support to children.  Establish the basis for an ongoing relationship of health care assistance.  (14-20 days)

Mission Statement

We are a group of 7 nurses in Portland, Oregon who are dedicated to offering sustainable healthcare interventions to undeserved populations in Uganda, Africa.  Five nurses will travel to two communities while two others will assist and organize our efforts from Portland.  Our focus is to assess the needs of the communities and provide care based on the peoples requested needs.

Who We Are

What Are We Fundraising For?

Our Goal: $15,000 distributed evenly between Canaan Farms, YES Uganda, and Sigma Theta Tau, Xi Mu Chapter.


  1. 1.33% to Canaan Farm for medical supplies (vitamins, wound care items such as gauze, dressings, over the counter medications, toiletries), irrigations kits for growing in the dry season (source of income and nutrition), biosand water filters (for portable water), mosquito nets, and possibly a hut for sleeping quarters.

  2. 2.33% to YES Uganda in the form of donation for medical support for 300 children affect by AIDS/HIV.  Such things as medical supplies, medications, clinic visits for illness, and potentially an on-site local nurse for year-round care.

  3. 3.3. 33% to Sigma Theta Tau, Xi Mu Chapter for financial assistance to nurses to perform service work abroad. This money is earmarked for sustainable health care trips. Sigma Theta Tau is an international nursing honor society that acts to promote and support the nursing community through its dedication to learning, knowledge, and professional development.
